New York. Prabal Gurung’s limited edition collection for the American super store chain Target is by far one of the most highly anticipated collaborations between a top international designer and a giant retailer this year. On Wednesday evening, Target threw not just a party to launch Gurung’s collection but put together a whole carnival with a mini store pre-selling selected items from the collection, a mini movie theater playing the Love movie produced for this collection’s promotion on loop, several food trucks, carnival games, and a live performance by the three time Grammy Winner R&B star Ne-Yo.
It’s a busy New York Fashion Week for the designer. Tomorrow he will present the Fall 2013 collection from his main PrabalGurung label, and on Monday his ICB Fall 2013 Collection will be on the runway. In between, on Sunday, this Target collection will be in stores and online.
A mini theater inside the carnival for the collection’s launch played the Love movie produced for this collection on a loop. You can watch it online, including at Target.com (search Prabal Gurung).
While the photos of this collection have been public for some weeks receiving rave reviews, what will also perhaps delight those who wear it is the quality of the products even at the relatively low price points of Target. The collection–about falling in love–is going to make you do just that. Here, some glimpses from the Prabal Gurung for Target launch.
